Eric Krenz was named the assistant softball coach at Tusculum in August of 2021.

Krenz spent the past two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Saginaw Valley State University, a NCAA Division II institution in Michigan. He worked primarily alongside the Cardinal outfielders and hitters, with many ranking inside the conference’s top-10 in offensive and fielding statistics. Krenz also assisted with practice planning, fundraising, recruitment, and represented the program at various camps.

Krenz also spent a combined 15-plus years at the travel and high school levels before moving to the collegiate ranks.

He served as the varsity head coach at Heritage High School from 2016-19. During Krenz’s inaugural season, the Hawks won the program’s first district championship in 15 years, which earned him District Coach of the Year honors. Krenz spent the previous three campaigns as the varsity assistant at Valley Lutheran High School.

From 2012-19, Krenz coached the Saginaw Bay Riverdawgs fastpitch travel team as well.

Outside of athletics, Krenz had decorated careers in firefighting and in the military. He retired in 2020 as Captain from the Saginaw Fire Department after nearly 24 years of service. Krenz served admirably as a squad leader in Operation Desert Storm and was discharged from the United States Marine Corps at the rank of Corporal in 1992.

Krenz has been married to his wife Angela for over 25 years and the pair has two daughters: Ashley and Sydney.
