Alloway named CoSIDA Academic All-America® for a third straight year

AUSTIN, Texas --- Tusculum University outfielder Anna Alloway has been named to the 2022 NCAA Division II Academic All-America® Softball first team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Alloway earns Academic All-America® honors for a third straight year. She was a third team selection in 2020 and garnered second team recognition in 2021.

Alloway, a graduate student from Louisville, Tennessee, becomes the first three-time Academic All-American® in program history and the eighth TU student-athlete overall. Other three-time TU honorees include: David Cooper (men's cross country), Franziska Funke (women's tennis), Simon Holzapfel (men's cross country), Annie McCullough (women's tennis), Nicole McMillen (women's soccer, cross country/track& field), Carlie Thornber (women's soccer) and Lukas Winkelmann (men's tennis).

She earned her undergraduate degree in 2021 while majoring in elementary education (K-5). She finished her undergraduate studies with a 3.98 cumulative grade point average and graduated with summa cum laude honors. She is pursuing her Master of Arts degree in education at Tusculum.

She is a member of the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll, Athletic Director's Honor Roll, Dean's List, President's List and Charles Oliver Gray Honors List. She is a member of Alpha Chi Honors Society and was a recipient of the Lettie Pate-Wyatt Scholarship, the Theresa Bailey-Mclntyre Memorial Scholarship and was named an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete. She is also a three-time recipient of the Division II Athletic Directors Association Academic Achievement Award.

She started in 48 games in 2022 where she posted 52 hits including 13 doubles, one triple, five home runs and a team-best 34 RBI. She batted .338 while scoring 18 runs and was tied for the club-lead with three sacrifice flies while earning All-SAC second team honors as she split time in the outfield and at designated player.

During her 200-game career, she established new program bests with 30 home runs and 370 total bases. She finished her career listed in TU's top-10 in numerous statistical categories including: at-bats (637 – 3rd), runs (105 – T8th), hits (225 – 3rd), doubles (51 – 4th), RBI (139 – T5th), on-base percentage (.396 – 7th) and sacrifice flies (8 – T2nd).

The two-time All-SAC selection and 2021 D2CCA All-Southeast Region honoree led the Pioneers to 111 victories including three straight winning seasons. In 2021, Tusculum won the SAC Tournament title and earned the program its first NCAA Division II Tournament berth. She was named to the 2021 SAC All-Tournament Team and was also selected as the 2021 SAC Softball Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2021-2022 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
