GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University softball team will play at J.C. Red Edmonds Field for the first time in 2022, kicking off a three series home stand. The Pioneers welcome Concord on Friday (Feb. 11) and Chowan on Saturday (Feb. 12) to dust up the diamond.

RECAPPING THE WEEK

The third baseman also launched her first home run as a Pioneer, the second of her collegiate career. Anna Alloway and Claire Smeltzer both enter the weekend with a .400 batting average. Alloway has a team-best six hits, two doubles, two runs, and a solo homer. Smeltzer has drawn a team-leading four walks alongside, four hits and a pair of RBI. Also notching a home run were Chloe Freischmidt and Hannah Hughes, the first of her career.

Sappington (2-0) has pitched two complete games on a 1.50 earned run average, relenting three runs, 10 hits, five walks, but has struck out 21 batters.

She has seven hits (three for extra bases), four runs, seven RBI, and two walks. Kylee Stacy has drawn a team-high five walks and scored six times. Rachael Koller is tied for the most innings pitched (8.2) on the staff in her two starts, earning a 1-1 record.
