Sappington, Alloway earn D2CCA All-Region laurels

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. --- Tusculum University softball's Emily Sappington and Anna Alloway continue the Pioneers' postseason haul by earning 2021 Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Softball All-Southeast Region second team honors. The pair are the first TU honorees to find themselves on this list since 2018.

The D2CCA All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The mission of the CCA is to encourage and promote Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.

On the season, Sappington recorded an 11-7 record with a pair of saves in 22 appearances. A native of Ashburn, Virginia, the left-handed pitcher tossed a team-high 125.0 innings with 127 strikeouts to collect a 2.24 earned-run average. Sappington pitched 14 complete games, including two no-hitters. In 114 plate appearances, she racked up 33 hits, 11 walks, five doubles, two home runs, and 24 RBI while slugging .444. Sappington was recently named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Southeast Region second team as well.

Alloway, a senior outfielder, has notched a team-best 57 hits, including 10 doubles and seven home runs, for a .396 batting average. The Louisville, Tennessee native has also piled up 29 runs scored, 28 runs batted in, six walks, and one stolen base. In 144 at bats, Alloway has struck out only eight times.
