Tusculum College senior righthander Kelly King was named the
Tennessee Sports Writers Association Softball Pitcher of the Week
for her performance for the week ending March 30.
King allowed just one earned run in a pair of complete-game
victories for the Pioneers. The senior hurler gave up three hits
and one unearned run with two strikeouts in a 4-1 win at Brevard on
Thursday. The Bethlehem, Pa., native allowed five hits and one run
with three strikeouts in a 3-1 victory over Catawba on Sunday. She
did not walk a batter in her 14 innings of work in the two
outings.
King is 13-8 with a 1.77 ERA in 23 appearances this season,
striking out 72 in 138 2/3 innings of work. She has walked just 13
batters and opponents are batting .227 against her.
Tusculum (20-18 overall, 6-4 South Atlantic Conference) plays a
doubleheader at Anderson University this afternoon and at Newberry
College on Saturday.
