MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. --- Tusculum College sophomore righthanded pitcher Elizabeth Johnson has been named to the Daktronics Division II All-Southeast Region Softball second team, which was released Monday.

Johnson (Greenville, Wisc.) posted a 17-5 record and led the South Atlantic Conference with a 1.16 earned run average this season, good for 15th in the latest NCAA Division II statistical rankings.

She opened the season with a 9-0 record, including the first perfect game in program history with a 3-0 victory over Virginia-Wise on March 2. Johnson also handed top-ranked Alabama-Huntsville its first loss of only four losses this season with a 3-2 win on March 13.

Over her final 11 starts, Johnson threw five shutouts and she worked at least six innings in 19 of her 24 starts. In 157 1/3 innings of work, Johnson allowed just two home runs to 622 batters faced and held opponents to a .201 batting average.

Johnson was one of eight SAC players named to the 13-player second team and among 12 SAC players honored between the first and second teams. April Jowers of Armstrong Atlantic was named Southeast Region Player of the Year and Jessica Coan of North Georgia was honored as Pitcher of the Year.
