The Tusculum College softball team remains ninth in the latest
NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, the NCAA announced
Wednesday. The rankings are through games of Sunday, April 10.
The Pioneers entered the week with a 26-13 overall record against
NCAA schools and 21-12 against regional opponents. They are one of
four South Atlantic Conference schools in the rankings, joining
Lenoir-Rhyne (31-7, 31-6 region), ranked second, Carson-Newman
(33-12, 28-12 region), ranked sixth, and Wingate (27-12, 27-12
region), ranked 10th.
North Georgia remains first in the region with a 39-9 overall
record (32-9 region), followed by Lenoir-Rhyne, Armstrong Atlantic
(24-10, 21-10 region), Flagler (34-14, 33-13 region), Augusta State
(29-15, 23-14 region), Carson-Newman, Columbus State (33-11, 33-10
region), USC Aiken (24-14, 24-14 region), Tusculum and Wingate.
Tusculum is 4-4 so far against regionally-ranked opponents,
including a 1-1 mark against both North Georgia and Carson-Newman,
and a 2-0 record against Wingate.
Following Wednesday's South Atlantic Conference doubleheader at
Mars Hill, the Pioneers return home for a SAC twinbill Saturday
afternoon against Newberry.
