The Tusculum College softball team appears throughout the latest
NCAA Division II statistics report, through games of Sunday, April
10. The Pioneers are ranked in the top 50 in four of the 11 team
categories, while four players account for 10 top-50 appearances on
the individual leaderboards.
As a team, the Pioneers remain eighth in fielding percentage (.974)
while ranking 28th in triples per game (0.34), 32nd in earned run
average (1.94) and 34th in double plays per game (0.39) among the
300 programs included in the rankings report.
Pioneer senior Erin Searcy (Coolidge, Ga.) and sophomore Elizabeth
Johnson (Greenville, Wisc.) are both ranked among the pitching
leaders. Johnson is 17th in earned run average (1.10), 21st in
shutouts (six), 24th in victories (15), 27th in saves (two) and
41st in fewest hits allowed per seven innings (5.07), while Searcy
ranks 38th in shutouts (five) and 50th in strikeouts (122).
Also ranked are junior outfielder Ashley Burke (North Augusta,
S.C.) and sophomore shortstop Lindsey Umberger (Madison, Wisc.).
Umberger is third in triples (six) and 18th in triples per game
(0.15) and Burke is 23rd in sacrifice flies (three).
The Pioneers (28-13 overall, 9-5 SAC) are on the road at Mars Hill
for a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader Wednesday at 2
p.m.
