The Tusculum College softball team slipped one spot to ninth in
the latest NCAA Division II Southeast Region poll, the NCAA
announced Thursday. The rankings are through games of Sunday, April
3.
The Pioneers entered the week with a 24-11 overall record against
NCAA schools and 19-10 against regional opponents. They are one of
four South Atlantic Conference schools in the rankings, joining
Lenoir-Rhyne (27-7, 27-6 region), ranked second, Carson-Newman
(30-11-1, 25-11-1 region), ranked eighth, and Wingate (23-12, 23-12
region), ranked 10th.
North Georgia remains first in the region with a 36-8 overall
record (29-8 region), followed by Lenoir-Rhyne, Armstrong Atlantic
(19-7, 16-7 region), Columbus State (31-9, 31-8 region), USC Aiken
(23-11, 23-11 region), Augusta State (25-11, 19-10 region), Flagler
(28-12, 27-11 region), Carson-Newman, Tusculum and Wingate.
Tusculum is 3-3 so far against regionally-ranked opponents,
including a 1-1 mark against North Georgia and a 2-0 record against
Wingate.
The Pioneers travel to Carson-Newman for a conference doubleheader
on Thursday, then go to Catawba for a SAC twinbill on Saturday at 1
p.m.
