GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The No. 12 North Georgia College & State University softball team (10-2) took both games of a doubleheader against Tusculum College (6-9) on Thursday, winning game one 2-0 before notching a come-from-behind 7-6 victory in the nightcap at Red Edmonds Field.

Senior Ashley Basilicato led the way with three hits in the twin-bill for the Pioneers, including a 2-for-3 performance in game one. Jessica McKee, Rachael Wilburn, Taylor MacDonald, and Makenzie Loy each had two hits, as McKee and Wilburn each drove in two runs.

Junior Holli Cadenhead (4-5) pitched the full seven innings in game one, allowing one earned run on six hits and striking out two. Aly Hansen (2-2) made the start in the second game, allowing two earned runs on four hits. Freshman Lindsay Bridges (0-2) came into game two in relief of Hansen and allowed two runs in four innings.

North Georgia was led by freshman Pilar Harden's three-hit day, including a pair of key base knocks in game one. Kim Stercay, Kasey Knight, and Laura Voyles each had two hits, while Harden drove in a team-high two runs, both in game two.

Sarah Phillips (6-1) was credited with the win in each contest, pitching a three-hit shutout in game one and throwing two perfect innings of relief in game two. The sophomore right-hander struck out a total of 12 batters on the day, including 10 punch outs in game one. Trisha Snider made the start for the Saints in game two, allowing one earned run and striking out four in five innings of work.

Game 1: North Georgia 2, Tusculum 0

North Georgia got on the board twice in the early innings of game one, scoring one run in both the second and third frames to take a 2-0 into the bottom of the third. Harden scored on a passed ball in the second following her one-out triple to give the Saints a 1-0 lead, and Knight extended the lead to 2-0 with an RBI double in the third stanza which scored Voyles from first.

Phillips took over from there, striking out seven batters over the final five innings to notch her fifth win of the season and first shutout.

Game 2: North Georgia 7, Tusculum 6

Game two remained scoreless through the first two innings, until North Georgia's Voyles singled home Stephanie Farmakis with two outs in the top of the third to give the Saints the 1-0 lead. North Georgia then capitalized on two errors by the Pioneers in the fourth, pushing across four runs to take a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the inning.

Tusculum started the rally in the bottom of the fourth, getting back-to-back two out singles from McKee and Loy to put runners on first and second for Wilburn. The junior outfielder followed with a single into the right center field gap, allowing McKee to score and pinch-runner Alex Kimbrell to advance to third before Phillips struck out the final batter of the inning to quell the rally.

With the Saints leading 5-1, Tusculum came to bat in the fifth inning and pushed five runs across the plate on four hits and three North Georgia errors to take a 6-5 lead over the 12th-ranked Saints. After MacDonald reached on a one-out walk and was pushed to second on a sacrifice bunt, Basilicato singled to put runners on first and third with two outs for Rachel Hopper.
