Tusculum swept by Maryville in rematch

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball dropped its second matchup of the weekend to Maryville on Saturday (Mar. 2).

The Pioneers (4-11, 1-3 IVA) were swept again by the Saints (15-3, 3-0 IVA) by scores of 25-19, 25-23, 25-20.

Luke Kraft tallied a team-best eight kills on a .368 hitting percentage for Maryville. Cameron Chambers dished out 29 assists, while Jacob Fischer landed four service aces. Defensively, libero Zac Clark finished with six digs. At the net, AJ Robateau was credited with four total blocks.

Deklan Wingo recorded a match-high 20 kills on a .455 clip. Rounding out the scoring were Morgan Makovec (5), Colby Landry (4), Shane O'Neal (3), Tristan Blake (2), and Jaden Bramhall (1). Blake tallied 27 assists, while Wingo (2), Bramhall (1), and Donovan Nye (1) collected the Pioneer aces. Nye also racked up seven digs in his two sets played. Blake also led the defensive effort at the net, having a hand in both blocks.

Maryville hit .329 as a team with 33 kills and 16 errors on 73 total attempts. Tusculum hit .218 with 35 kills, 16 errors, and 87 total attacks. The Saints led the Pioneers in service aces (9-4), digs (27-26), and total blocks (5-2), while the teams tied with 31 assists.

Tusculum goes on an 11-match road trip all along the East Coast, starting with Daemen on March 8. First serve between the Pioneers and Wildcats is scheduled for 6 p.m.
