Limestone halts Tusculum win streak

GAFFNEY, S.C. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team had its three-match winning streak cut short at Limestone on Friday night (Mar. 24).

The Pioneers (8-13, 1-4 IVA) were undone by the Saints (11-9, 2-2 IVA) by scores of 20-25, 24-26, 25-15, 22-25.

Limestone was led by Noah Gaspard's 17 kills, followed by Gabriel Maristany's 11. Cayden Marin dished out 47 assists, while Gaspard landed a team-best two service aces. Both Jakub Wiaderny (14) and Gaspard (12) reached double-figures in digs for the Saints. At the net, Marin was credited with five block assists.

Deklan Wingo landed 18 kills for Tusculum, while Shaphar Grant recorded 12 kills on 17 swings (.706). Jaden Bramhall finished with 40 assists and was one of five Pioneers to collect an ace: Bramhall (2), Wingo, Jakob Svendsen, and Dane Loup. Bramhall led the way with nine digs, ahead of eight from both Wingo and Loup. From the front row, Grant assisted in five blocks to head up the TU defense.

Limestone hit .276 as a team with 54 kills and 17 errors on 134 total attempts. Tusculum averaged .246 with 50 kills, 19 errors, and 126 total attacks. The Pioneers led the match in service aces (5-3) and digs (48-46), while the Saints recorded more assists (52-45) and total blocks (7-6).

Tusculum continues its road trip with a stop in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Pioneers are set to battle Queens on Saturday (Mar. 25) for a 2 p.m. match.
