Pioneers do battle with Crusaders

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's volleyball team kept it close against North Greenville, but NGU came away victorious.

The Pioneers (5-12) fell to the Crusaders (11-5) by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 25-19.

Diego Rosich and Michael de la Cruz led NGU with eight kills each. Both Tom Curry and Mark Autry tallied seven offensive scores. Jorge Riesgo dished out 32 assists and was one of three Crusaders to record a service ace, joined by de la Cruz and Autry. Riesgo and Jackson Chadwell notched seven digs apiece, just ahead of Rosich's six. Emanuel Adames was credited with five total blocks (one solo, four assists) in the match.

Colby Landry finished with a match-high 10 kills on a .444 hitting percentage. Jaden Bramhall was responsible for 25 assists, while Jakob Svendsen (2) and Dane Loup (1) tallied the aces. Both Landry and Deklan Wingo scooped up a team-best five digs, one more than James Ward. Shaphar Grant had a hand in all three of the Pioneers' blocks with two solo and an assist alongside Wingo.

North Greenville hit .277 as a team with 37 kills and 14 errors on 83 total attempts. Tusculum averaged .119 with 30 kills, 20 errors, and 84 total attacks. The Crusaders led the Pioneers in assists (37-27), digs (30-24), and total blocks (9-3), but the teams were tied with three service aces apiece.

Tusculum continues its final four-match home stand with a visit from Emmanuel (6-11) on Saturday (Mar. 11). The rematch between the Pioneers and Lions is scheduled for 2 p.m.
