Men's Volleyball downed by Railsplitters

HARROGATE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum men's volleyball team faced Lincoln Memorial for the second time this season and came up on the short end of a 3-0 match.

The Railsplitters (8-8, 3-1 IVA) won by scores of 25-18, 25-17, 25-20 to defeat the Pioneers (1-10, 0-4 IVA).

Justin Sharfenaker was quite efficient with 14 kills on a .650 hitting percentage. Logan Kerley followed with 13 kills on a .524 clip. AJ Risavy dished out 26 assists, while Pedro Carvalho and Jacob Titus landed the two service aces for the Railsplitters. Kerley and Attia Soliman finished with six digs each as a team-high. Carvalho assisted on five blocks at the net to head up the defense.

Dane Loup collected a team-best eight kills, just ahead of six by both Caleb Slater and Hunter Walck. Slater fired at a .500 rate. Lucas Blanco handed out 25 assists and a match high seven digs. Taylor Phillips was two digs behind with five for the match. Walck also served up the lone ace for the Pioneers. Shaphar Grant is credited with three block assists and Slater with a pair of solo blocks.

Lincoln Memorial finished the match with a .461 hitting percentage with 44 kills and nine attack errors in 76 total attempts. Tusculum totaled 32 kills, 19 errors, and 82 swings for a .159 hitting percentage. The Railsplitters led the Pioneers in assists (40-30), aces (2-1), and digs (28-22), while the teams tied with five total blocks apiece.

Tusculum will continue its travels with an IVA match at Alderson Broaddus on Sunday (Mar. 21), starting at 3 p.m.
