Tusculum Swept by Ranked Tigers

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. --- The Tusculum men's volleyball team fell to the second-ranked team in the NAIA, Campbellsville, in straight sets on Saturday afternoon.

The Tigers (2-1) won by scores of 27-25, 25-18, 25-17 to defeat the Pioneers (0-2).

Campbellsville was led offensively by Noah Henkel's nine kills, followed by seven from Rafael Cruz. Jeremy Hernandez topped the assist and service ace categories with 21 and three, respectively. Defensively, Jay Montalvo dug up 11 attempts. Ramon Matos is credited with a solo block, meanwhile Ho Yin Leung and Henkel combined for the remaining block.

Shaun Kampshoff once again headed up the Pioneer attack with 12 kills, ahead of Colby Landry's six. Lucas Blanco dished out 22 of the team's 23 assists and notched a team-leading three aces. Kampshoff landed the remaining pair. Taylor Phillips collected a program-record for digs in a three-set match with 12. In his TU debut, Caleb Slater was a force at the net with six total blocks (one solo, five assists).

Campbellsville finished the match with a .432 hitting percentage with 41 kills and nine attack errors in 74 total attempts. Tusculum totaled 25 kills, 18 errors, and 72 swings for a .097 hitting percentage. The Tigers led in assists (41-23) and digs (24-19), while the Pioneers collected more aces (5-4) and total blocks (6-2).

Tusculum has 10 days off before a five-match homestand, beginning with Lees-McRae on Tuesday (Jan. 26). First serve inside Pioneer Arena is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
