Pioneers win 4-3 at #42 Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Tusculum University picked up its eighth consecutive victory with a 4-3 win at Lincoln Memorial University in South Atlantic Conference men's tennis Wednesday afternoon.

The 37th-ranked Pioneers (11-3, 4-0 SAC) won the doubles point then won three of the first four completed singles matches to capture the match fromthe 42nd-ranked Railsplitters (11-5, 3-2 SAC).

In doubles, the Pioneers' Will Gee and Miles Ray upset 47th-ranked Thom Hermans and Harper Mills 6-4 at flight two, followed by a 7-6 (7-4) victory at flight one from the 37th-ranked duo of Nemanja Subanovic and Anton Krondell over Alexandru Giurea and Sergio Boneta.

Gee defeated William Jonsson 6-3, 6-2 to give Tusculum a 2-0 lead, and Ivan Ivars put the Pioneers on top 3-0 with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Hermans at flight four. Lincoln Memorial kept the match alive by rallying for a win at flight six to cut the Tusculum lead to 3-1, but Subanovic closed out the win as he defeated Giurea 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 at flight one.

The Pioneers, who along with Wingate are the lone unbeaten teams in the SAC standings, will host Limestone on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
