TEMPE, Ariz. --- Tusculum University senior Frank Bonacia is ranked 32nd nationally in Division II in men's singles by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the ITA announced Wednesday.
Bonacia is also ranked eighth in the Southeast Region in singles after compiling a 9-2 record in singles during the fall for the Pioneers, including a quarterfinals appearance in the ITA Southeast Regional which ended with a loss to Joaquin Benoit of North Georgia, who is ranked second nationally in singles.
Among Bonacia's victories in the fall was a three-set win over Oscar Del Granado of Flagler, ranked 10th in the Southeast Region. Seven of the nine wins by Bonacia during the fall were straight-set victories, with his other two wins coming after dropping the first set to his opponent.
The Rome, Italy native has a career singles record of 40-12 at Tusculum, and he was a second-team All-South Atlantic Conference honoree last season after going 16-3 in singles for the SAC Tournament champion Pioneers.
