Tusculum defeats Coker 7-2 in completion of suspended match

HARTSVILLE, S.C. --- Tusculum College won four of six singles matches to defeat Coker College 7-2 Monday afternoon in the completion of a South Atlantic Conference men's tennis match that had been suspended by rain on March 26.

In singles, Tim Stierle defeated William Marrafao 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 at flight one, Jonas Winkelmann bested Mark Watt 6-4, 3-6, (10-8) at flight three, Toby de Klerk won 6-2, 6-4 over Felix Schweyer at flight six, and Leon Seiz won 8-4 over Henrik Hellbe at flight five.

Prior to the suspension of the match, the Pioneers (15-1, 6-1 SAC) had swept all three points from the Cobras (5-10, 3-4 SAC). At flight one, Stierle and Winkelmann defeated Marrafao and Hellbe by an 8-3 score, while Tashique Kader and Seiz downed Tom Sizeland and Watt 9-7 at flight two. De Klerk and Eduardo Munoz made it a clean sweep with an 8-6 victory at flight three over Simon Bergbom and Schweyer.

The Pioneers continue their schedule on Tuesday afternoon at Newberry beginning at 2 p.m.
