#49 Tusculum shuts out Milligan 9-0 in completion of suspended match

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's tennis team shut out Milligan College 9-0 Sunday afternoon in the completion of a match that was suspended due to rain on Feb. 20.

The 49th-ranked Pioneers (7-0) won the final two unfinished doubles pro sets, then swept all six singles matches from the Buffs (2-3).

Tusculum led 1-0 prior to the suspension of the match, as the Pioneers' number-two doubles team of Leon Seiz and Tashique Kader defeated Fernando Gonzalez and Joseph Lyttle by a score of 8-1

The other two doubles matches were completed on Sunday, and saw Tusculum hold on to the leads they had prior to the suspension. The number-one team of Tim Stierle and Jonas Winkelmann defeated Colin Bumann and Jackson Lenoir by a score of 8-4, while the number-three tandem of Eduardo Munoz and Toby de Klerk beat Chris Bumann and Matias Yanez by an identical 8-4 score.

In singles play, Stierle defeated Bumann by a score of 6-1, 6-1 at flight one, Munoz downed Lenoir 6-3, 6-1 at flight two and Winkelmann bested Yanez 6-4, 6-1 at flight three. At flight four, Kader defeated Gonzalez 6-1, 6-4, Seiz was a 6-4, 6-1 winner at flight five over Joshua Crain, and de Klerk beat Daniel Peacock 6-0, 6-0 at flight six.

The Pioneers will resume their South Atlantic Conference schedule on Tuesday at Carson-Newman, in a match scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
