BREVARD, N.C. --- The second-seeded Tusculum College men's tennis team advanced to the finals of the 2015 South Atlantic Conference Tournament with a 5-2 semifinal victory over Anderson University on Friday morning. All-SAC first team selection Nic Planchard clinched the decisive point for the Pioneers (18-1) with a victory in the second singles spot.

Tusculum will be appearing in its ninth tournament final and will face top-seeded Wingate University in a rematch of last year's championship match. First serve is set for 9 a.m.

TC jumped out to a 2-1 lead over the Trojans (14-5) with a pair of doubles victories. First team All-SAC selections Lukas and Jonas Winkelmann were 8-5 winners against Juan Carracedo and Mateo Rivas in the top spot.

All-SAC second team selections Leon Seiz and Tashique Kader defeated Nicolas Ascarrunz and Harrison Kansol 8-6 in the second position. The Trojans earned a point with a win in the third flight.

After Anderson tied the match at 2-2 with a victory at number six singles, the Pioneers won the next three matches to clinch their spot in the final. Lukas Winkelmann, the SAC Player of the Year, remained undefeated for the season with an easy win over Nicolas Ascarrunz (6-0, 6-1) in the top flight.

Jonas Winkelmann, an All-SAC honorable mention selection, cruised past Mateo Rivas (6-2, 6-1) in the third spot before Planchard bested Juan Carracedo 6-3, 6-3. Both Seiz and Kader's singles matches were in the third set but were unfinished once TC sealed the win.
