GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College
men's tennis team is listed in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis
Association Division II National Rankings for the first time in the
2015 season, coming in at number 43 as announced yesterday by the
organization. In addition, Pioneer senior Lukas Winkelmann moved up
to 10th in the national singles rankings.
TC is 10-1 overall this season and 3-1 in the South Atlantic
Conference. The Pioneers are just one of two SAC teams represented
in the poll right behind Queens University of Charlotte, who is
36th.
Winkelmann is 10-0 in singles play this season after starting
the 2015 campaign ranked 12th in the initial ITA poll. He is
currently riding a 43-match winning streak in regular-season
singles action dating back to the 2013 season. The Bobligen,
Germany native is the only ranked player from the SAC.
Winkelmann is also slotted third in the latest ITA Southeast
Region singles rankings that were released last week.
The Pioneers will be back in action this weekend with a pair
of matches at the Nichols Tennis Complex. TC will host Coker on
Saturday at 2 p.m. and Newberry on Sunday beginning at noon.
