Bluefield State downs Tusculum Men's tennis, 7-2

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Bluefield State College men's tennis team recorded a 7-2 win over host Tusculum College Sunday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Big Blues captured two of the three doubles points and followed five victories in five of the six singles matches.

The Bluefield State No. 1 doubles pairing of Shikhar Kapur and Dusan Zivkovic edged the Tusculum duo of Luis Zamora and Gui Carvalho, 8-5 in pro set.

Tusculum's Oliver Smith and Steven Lin accounted for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles over Marcin Majchrzak and Jesus Sanchez. BSC's Vlad Catlan and Sreeram Guatam closed out doubles as they edged TC's Sam Groeneveld and Drew Kiser, 8-6 at the third flight.

The Big Blues moved out to a 4-2 lead as Kapur and Majchrazk won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively. Smith recorded his second point of the afternoon for TC as he defeated Sanchez 6-4, 6-4 at No. 3 singles.

Catlan, Zivkovic and Guatam closed out the match for Bluefield State, capturing the remaining singles matches.

Tusculum (1-1) closes out the fall season and returns to action Feb. 12 when the Pioneers travel to Greenwood, S.C. to face Southeast region foe Lander.
