GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Luis Zamora recorded a pair of points to lead the Tusculum College men's tennis team to a 6-3 South Atlantic Conference win over Catawba College Saturday at the Nichols Tennis Complex.

The Pioneers (10-2, 2-1 SAC) have won four of its last five matches, while the Catawba Indians fall to 12-8 overall, 1-5 in the leage.

Tusculum led 2-1 after doubles play as the Pioneers captured points at the first and third flights. The No. 1 duo of Henrique Rodrigues and Zamora outlasted Thomas Mitchell and Alex Macdonald, 8-5 in pro sets. The pairing of Drew Kiser and Gui Carvalho posted an 8-2 win at No. 3 doubles over Corey Eldridge and Cyle Petersen.

Catawba bounced back in singles play winning two of the first three matches, including Macdonald's 4-6, 6-0, 7-5 win over Rodrigues at the top flight. Mitchell also posted a hard fought 7-6, 6-4 win over Steven Lin at No. 3 singles. Zamora won his match over Uri Yarkoni, 6-4, 6-4 as the match was all square at 3-3.

But the Pioneers won the final three singles battles, including Oliver Smith, as he rallied from a set down to defeat Tom McCormack 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. Kiser and Carvalho also posted singles wins for the Pioneers.

Tusculum is back in action on Wednesday as the Pioneers travel to Jefferson City to take on arch-rival Carson-Newman College for a 2 p.m. match.
