MEN'S TENNIS EARNS FIFTH SEED IN SAC TOURNAMENT, AT BREVARD MONDAY

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- The Tusculum College men's tennis team will be the No. 5 seed in this week's 2009 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The Pioneers (12-9), the defending champions of this event, will travel to No. 4 seed Brevard College (15-3) Monday for a 3 p.m. quarterfinal match.

The winner of the Tusculum/Brevard match will advance to Rock Hill, S.C. to face either No. 1 Wingate University or No. 8 Catawba College in a 9 a.m. on Friday at the Rock Hill Tennis Center. The tournament will conclude Saturday morning with a 9 a.m. championship match.

The winner of the Food Lion SAC Tournament will earn the league's automatic berth to next month's NCAA Division II Tournament.

Tusculum has won the SAC Tournament title twice, capturing the championship in 2002 and again last year.

The Tornados edged Tusculum 5-4 earlier this month at the Brevard, N.C. campus. Brevard is making its SAC Tournament debut.

The Pioneers have already clinched their ninth consecutive winning season.
