GREER, S.C. --- Drew Kiser rallied from a
set down to capture the winning point as the Tusculum College men's
tennis team defeated host North Greenville University, 5-4 Saturday
afternoon.
The Pioneers (11-9) trailed 4-3, but rallied capturing points at
No. 5 and No. 6 singles, including Kiser's 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over
Jacob Rogers in the ninth and final match of the day.
Rookie Steven Lin tied the match at 4-4 with his
7-6, 6-1 victory over Guliherme Vasquez in the fifth flight.
Tusculum jumped out to a 2-1 lead winning the top two flights in
doubles play. Kiser and Thomas Rees defeated JC
Aguliera and Rogers, 8-5. TC also got an 8-4 pro set win at No. 2
doubles by the duo of Henrique Rodrigues and
Leo Guaycurus.
NGU won its No. 3 doubles match by William Ho and Vasquez as they
edged the TC pairing of Lin and Hunter Beal.
The Crusaders (3-9) captured points at the first and third
flights, but Tusculum got a point at No. 2 singles, thanks to a
6-4, 6-3 win by Rodrigues.
Tusculum will close out its regular season this Saturday when the
Pioneers host Bluefield State College for an 11 a.m. match.
