Tusculum remains 7th in latest NSCAA Division II poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- The Tusculum College men's soccer team remains seventh in this week's National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II Top 25, through matches of Oct. 17. The Pioneers also remain second in the NSCAA Southeast Region rankings following last week's results.

NSCAA Division II Men's Soccer Polls

The Pioneers are one of two unbeaten, untied teams in Division II with a 12-0-0 overall record, and are in second place in the South Atlantic Conference with seven wins in seven matches, including victories over Brevard (4-1) and Mars Hill (2-1) last week.

Tusculum's 12 consecutive victories represents the longest winning streak in program history, while the streak of 12 straight matches without a loss is the longest since going 13-0-2 to start the 1996 season. The Pioneers have not trailed at any point in any of their seven conference matches, and have trailed for less than 15 minutes during their last nine overall contests.

Wingate, which leads the SAC with an 8-0-0 conference record and is the only other unbeaten, untied team in Division II at 11-0-0, moved up three spots to number one in the rankings this week. LIU Post (11-0-1) and St. Edwards's (12-1-1) also climbed up three positions to second and third, respectively after the top three teams stumbled last week. Losses by Rockhurst and Charleston knocked those teams from first and second to fifth and sixth, while Simon Fraser had a draw and fell one spot from third to fourth.

In the region, there were no changes in the top six positions as Wingate is followed by Tusculum, Limestone, Pfeiffer, Lander and Lenoir-Rhyne. Montevallo and Lincoln Memorial each moved up one spot from eighth and ninth to seventh and eighth, respectively, while Catawba fell two spots from seventh to ninth. New to the region rankings this week is Erskine at 10th.

The NSCAA College Rankings are an indicator of week-to-week status of qualified programs and in no way should be used as a guide or indicator of eligibility for selection to the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship.

The Pioneers travel to Carson-Newman for a meeting with the Eagles (6-7-0, 2-5-0 SAC) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., then host Catawba (8-4-0, 5-3-0 SAC) in the final regular-season home game at Pioneer Field on Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
