Coker edges Tusculum Men's soccer 2-1

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Connor Norton-Baker's goal in the 70th minute proved to be the match-winner as Coker defeated host Tusculum 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Pioneer Field in South Atlantic Conference men's soccer action.

Norton-Baker received a pass from Filip Nytorp on the 20 yards from the goal as he fired a shot to towards the far post at the 69:36 mark of the match and break a 1-1 deadlock.

Coker (3-6-1, 3-4 SAC) got on the board first as Alvaro Urena converted a penalty kick in the 30th minute to give the Cobras a 1-0 lead.

Four minutes later, TC's Cody Kammerzell was fouled just inside the penalty area at the 33:28 mark of the contest. Guillermo Lazcano connected on the ensuing penalty kick for his second goal of the season and tying the match at 1-1.

Tusculum (6-4-1, 3-2-1 SAC) out-shot the Cobras by a 22-11 margin, including 13-5 in the second half.

Coker goalkeeper Kyndle Cobb picked up the victory as he made seven saves on the afternoon, while his TC counterpart Jorge Alvarez accounted for five saves in the loss.

Of Tusculum's 22 shots, Pablo Laguna finished with a match-high seven shots, including three on frame, while Kyle Dickson posted six shots with two on goal.

Tusculum returns to action on Wednesday as the Pioneers travel to Hickory, North Carolina to face SAC foe Lenoir-Rhyne for a 7 p.m. contest.
