Tusculum College junior midfielder Roberto Pimentel was an
honorable mention selection to the All-South Atlantic Conference
Men's Soccer team, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Pimentel, from Campinas, Brazil, shared the team lead in both goals
(five) and assists (three) while leading the Pioneers with 13
points. He scored a pair of game-winning goals and was third on the
team with 26 shot attempts. Pimentel was a preseason second-team
All-Conference selection in each of the last two seasons, and was a
second-team All-Conference performer as a freshman in 2011. In 51
career matches, Pimentel has 12 goals and seven assists for 31
points, including five game-winning goals.
Ross Frame of Carson-Newman was named the SAC Player of the Year,
while Queens claimed the Freshman of the Year in Jonathan Onyeaka
and Coach of the Year in Oliver Carias as the Royals won the SAC
championship in their first season in the league.
The Pioneers finished 6-10-0 and went 3-8-0 in SAC matches. Nine of
the Pioneers' 10 losses came by one goal, including five in
overtime, and Tusculum trailed by more than one goal in a match
once the entire season, in a 3-1 loss at Catawba on October 12.
