The Pioneers are 6-4-2 against regional opponents, including a
win over fourth-ranked Mars Hill (1-0) and a tie with sixth-ranked
Lees-McRae (2-2). Tusculum also went to double overtime with
second-ranked Anderson, falling 2-1 on the road.
Coker (13-2-0) leads the regional rankings, followed by Anderson
(13-2-0), Flagler (11-3-1), Mars Hill (9-2-1) and Montevallo
(6-3-4) in the top five. The second five consists of Lees-McRae
(11-4-1), with Lander (7-5-2), Tusculum, North Georgia (7-6-1) and
UNC Pembroke (8-3-2) rounding out the survey.
Six teams from the Southeast Region will be chosen to participate
in the 32-team NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship, which
begins Nov. 9 with two opening-round games and concludes Dec. 3
with the championship game at Pensacola, Fla.
The Pioneers (6-7-2 overall, 5-1-1 South Atlantic Conference) play
at Wingate Thursday at 7 p.m. in a SAC contest before concluding
the regular season Sunday at 2 p.m. at Lenoir-Rhyne.
