Dates, opponents announced for 2011 Stanno Soccer Classic

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum College men's soccer team has announced it will host the inaugural Stanno Soccer Classic, Sept. 9-11, 2011 at the Niswonger Sports Complex / Pioneer Field.

Scheduled to compete in the 2011 Stanno Soccer Classic are Tusculum, Carson-Newman College, Barry University and Nova Southeastern University.

On Sept. 9, the Classic will kick off with Carson-Newman and Nova Southeastern in the opening match, followed by Tusculum and Barry. The Classic will wrap up on Sept. 11 as Carson-Newman faces Barry, followed by Tusculum against Nova Southeastern.

"The Stanno Classic will be an exciting event as some of the best soccer programs in NCAA Division II converge on Greeneville in 2011," said Tusculum head coach Steve Voltz. "Tusculum, Carson-Newman, Barry and Nova Southeastern have proven to be yearly contenders in the Southeast and South Regions and promises to be a showcase for the best in collegiate soccer. I wish to give my appreciation to the wonderful people at Stanno for their sport of Tusculum College soccer and this inaugural event."

Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn. is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference, which is comprised of 10 colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
