GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College and Young Harris College played to a scoreless draw Saturday night at Pioneer Field in a match shortened due to lightning.
The start of the second half was delayed 68 minutes due to a severe thunderstorm that went through the Greeneville area. Play resumed in good conditions, but would later be marred with heavy rains, before the match was called with 3:12 left in regulation due to lightning.
The Pioneers (0-1-2) were led by the defensive efforts of keeper Andy Goellner, who tallied nine saves and recorded his first career shutout. The Mountain Lions (0-2-2) were paced in goal by Wezley Barnard, who accounted for four saves in the clean-sheet.
Young Harris out-shot the Pioneers by a 19-9 margin, including four shots each by Niall McCabe and Mouhamed Bechir. TC's David Montes accounted for three shots off the bench, while Andres Jarquin tallied a pair of shots on goal.
Tusculum is back in action on Wednesday as the Pioneers travel to Limestone College for a 7 p.m. match in Gaffney, S.C.
