Lemma garners Daktronics All-American honors for second straight season

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Tusculum College senior midfielder Anteneh Lemma was named to the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-America Team for the second year in a row Tuesday, garnering Honorable Mention recognition after leading the Pioneers to their second consecutive Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament title this fall.

Lemma led the Pioneers in nearly every statistical category this season, recording team-highs in goals (11), points (30), and match-winners (4), while finishing the campaign second on the team with eight assists. The 2008 Daktronics NCAA Division II Second Team All-American scored four goals, including a pair of match-winners, in the SAC Tournament to propel the Pioneers to the program's fourth conference tournament crown.

A native of Stockholm, Sweden, Lemma concludes his career with 26 goals, 26 assists, and 78 points. The three-time All-SAC selection ranks fifth in program history with four match-winning goals, while ranking among the school's top all-time assists leaders.

Lemma also holds the distinguished honor of being the first player to garner Daktronics All-American recognition twice in his career, accomplishing the feat in back-to-back seasons. During his three seasons with the Pioneers, Lemma was named to the All-SAC Team three times, including a pair of first team selections, while garnering All-American honors three times (two Daktronics and one NSCAA). Lemma has also been named to the Daktronics and NSCAA All-Region teams a total of four times, as the Pioneers posted a combined 41-18-5 record during his tenure.
