CONCEICAO HEADLINES DAKTRONICS MEN'S SOCCER ALL-SOUTHEAST REGION TEAMS

Bruno Conceicao HARROGATE, Tenn. --- Tusculum College's Bruno Conceicão was named the 2008 Daktronics Men's Soccer Southeast Region Player of the Year on Tuesday, and is one of five Pioneers on the Southeast Region First Team. The Pioneers also placed two players on the second team, setting a school record with seven All-Region selections.

Conceicão is in the midst of his best statistical season at Tusculum, leading the South Atlantic Conference with 22 goals and 54 points to earn SAC Player of the Year honors for the first time in his career. Joining the 5-10, 165-pound forward on the first team are midfielders Scott Lucky and Anteneh Lemma, defender Sven Meyer, and TC's all-time shutouts leader goalkeeper Lance Moore.

Lemma has emerged as one of Tusculum's premier offensive weapons this season, entering this week's NCAA Division II Southeast Regional second on the team with 13 goals and 35 points. The 5-7, 145-pound half back received All-SAC honors for the second time in his career last week, as he finished the season third in the conference in points and fourth in goals.

Lucky, a native of Orangevale, Calif., earned All-Region honors for the first time in his career after being named to the All-SAC Second Team last week. The 6-0, 175-pound midfielder has led the Pioneers in assists for much of the season, entering the NCAA Tournament with 11 helpers thus far.

Meyer has been an integral part of one of the best back lines in NCAA II this season, as the Pioneers have held the opposition to less than one goal per match. The 2008 All-SAC First Team selection has started each of TC's 21 matches thus far as the Pioneers have tallied a conference-best 11 shutouts this season.

Moore has led the Pioneers to an 18-2-1 record so far this season, posting a program-record 11 shutouts and a 0.99 goals against average in more than 1900 minutes. A native of Morristown, Tenn., Moore allowed just one goal in three matches against ranked teams this season, including an eight-save clean sheet against SAC rival Carson-Newman College. The 6-2, 185-pound netminder has also set new program records in career shutouts (17) and goals against average (1.27) this season.

Midfielder Lucas Paulini and defender Rory McCook were also named to the All-Region Second Team for the Pioneers. Paulini has followed his SAC Freshman of the Year season of 2007 with one goal and 10 assists to earn first team all-conference honors for the second straight year. McCook was also named to the All-SAC Second Team last week, and has been a leader on a Tusculum squad that has reached the NCAA Tournament for the fourth time in five years.

The Pioneers return to the pitch on Friday to face the winner of Francis Marion and Carson-Newman in the semifinal round of the NCAA II Southeast Regional at 7 p.m., which is being hosted by Tusculum.
