VOLTZ NAMED ASSISTANT MEN'S SOCCER COACH

Steve Voltz GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Steve Voltz, formerly the head women's soccer coach at Huntingdon College, has been named the new assistant men's soccer coach at Tusculum College, announced Pioneer head coach Brett Teach.

Voltz will assist in all aspects of the program, including practice planning, recruiting, travel coordination and game management.

"We are very fortunate that Steve was available," said Coach Teach. "He was one of many strong candidates, but stood out because of his experience and regional recruiting knowledge that will help the program thrive and continue to compete on a national level. Steve is extremely organized and task oriented, and is willing to dive into any task and get it done."

Voltz, a native of Offenbach, Germany, led Huntingdon into the first round of the Great South Athletic Conference Tournament last season where the Hawks fell to eventual tournament runner-up Spelman College.

Prior to his post at the Montgomery, Ala. school, Voltz served as the assistant women's soccer coach at NCAA Division II member Slippery Rock University. During his tenure at the Slippery Rock, Pa. school, the Rock posted a 29-12-2 record and advanced to at least the semifinal round of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Tournament each year.

The Rock posted the best season in program history in 2007, winning a school-record 17 matches and advanced to the second round of the NCAA II Tournament. Slippery Rock also finished the season ranked No. 22 in the final National Soccer Coaches' Association of America (NSCAA) Poll.

Voltz graduated from the University of Florida in 1991 with a Bachelors degree in German. During his time at UF, Voltz was a three-year starter on the Gator men's soccer team which played in three Southeastern Conference Tournaments. Voltz also earned a Masters degree from Florida in German Studies.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of a nationally ranked program, and work with an accomplished coach in Brett Teach," said Voltz. "I look forward to the challenges ahead and am eager to help our program compete for its third straight South Atlantic Conference championship."

Voltz is a certified coach with the NSCAA and the United States Soccer Foundation.

Tusculum College, located in Greeneville, Tenn., is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, USA and is a NCAA Division II member of the South Atlantic Conference which is comprised of nine colleges and universities in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina.
