TEACH NAMED NSCAA MEN'S SOCCER REGION COACH OF THE YEAR

Brett Teach KANSAS CITY, Kan. --- Tusculum men's soccer Head Coach Brett Teach has been named the 2008 National Soccer Coaches' Association of America Southeast Region Coach of Year, becoming the first coach in program history to earn NSCAA Region Coach of the Year honors.

Teach led the Pioneers to the most successful season in program history, posting a 20-3-1 record while capturing the school's third South Atlantic Conference title. Tusculum also won the Food Lion SAC Tournament for the third time in program history, and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Division II National Tournament for the second time in five years.

A graduate of King College in Bristol, Tenn., Teach was named SAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season. The former All-American goalkeeper has been named Conference Coach of the Year nine times in his career, including the last five years dating back to 2004 when he was at the University of Auburn-Montgomery in the NAIA's Southern States Athletic Conference. Teach has also earned Region Coach of the Year honors nine times in his career, including eight selections at the NAIA level.

Teach reached a significant milestone in his coaching career earlier this season against Mars Hill on Oct. 8, earning his 250th career win with a 3-1 result against the Lions. The 2007 SAC Coach of the Year went on to lead his side to a school-record 20 wins. Tusculum's 20 victories this fall marks the sixth 20-win season in Teach's coaching career, including a pair of 23-2 worksheets while at Auburn-Montgomery.
