Tusculum remains 19th in this week's USILA Division II poll

PERRY, N.Y. --- The Tusculum men's lacrosse team remains 19th in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Top 20 poll this week, which was released Monday afternoon.

The Pioneers (10-2, 6-1 South Atlantic Conference) won their fifth consecutive game Saturday afternoon with a 12-7 victory at Mars Hill. It is the second time this season that the Pioneers have won five games in a row, and was the third time this year that Tusculum has overcome a second-half deficit to earn a win.

Tusculum is in the USILA Top 20 for the third straight week, having debuted at 20 two weeks ago and moving into a tie for 19th last week. The Pioneers' two losses are to ranked opponents, a 15-8 setback to 12th-ranked Tampa in the season opener on Feb. 5 and a 12-11 overtime loss on the road to 4th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne on March 18.

The Pioneers lead Division II in assists per game (9.83) and points per game (24.67), and are ranked in the top 10 in man-up offense (4th, 45.8 percent), scoring offense (5th, 14.83 goals per game), man-down defense (7th, 80.0 percent), ground balls per game (8th, 35.25) and scoring margin (9th, +6.0 goals per game). Tusculum is one of 11 teams in Division II with at least 10 wins, and their .833 winning percentage is tied for fifth-best among all Division II teams.

Tusculum will play its regular-season finale on Saturday at 3 p.m. against 14th-ranked Wingate at Pioneer Field. The winner will earn the number-two seed and a first-round bye in the upcoming SAC Championship tournament. Wingate has won the three previous meetings with Tusculum, but will be playing the Pioneers on the road for the first time on Saturday.
