Pioneers continue to receive votes in USILA Top 20

PERRY, N.Y. --- For the second consecutive week, the Tusculum men's lacrosse team is receiving votes in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Division II Top 20 poll, the USILA announced Monday.

The Pioneers (5-2, 1-1 South Atlantic Conference) had their five-game winning streak end on Saturday with a 12-11 overtime loss on the road at Lenoir-Rhyne, which moved up one spot from 12th to 11th in this week's poll. Tusculum is one of 11 teams also receiving votes outside the Top 20 rankings.

The Pioneers lead Division II in man-up offense at 55.2 percent (16-for-29) and are in the top 10 in six other categories, including assists per game (2nd, 10.0), points per game (3rd, 25.71), scoring offense (6th, 15.71 goals per game) and ground balls per game (9th, 36.29). In addition to man-up offense, Tusculum also leads the SAC in scoring offense, scoring margin, total assists, assists per game and points per game.

The top four teams are the same as in last week's poll, with LeMoyne, Limestone and Merrimack holding down the top three spots, followed by Lindenwood and Belmont Abbey. Other Tusculum opponents in the rankings are Lenoir-Rhyne in 11th, Tampa in 14th, Queens in 16th and Wingate in 18th.

The Pioneers are back home at Pioneer Field to host Catawba in a SAC contest on Saturday at 3 p.m.
