For the second time this season, Tusculum College goalkeeper
Kevin Haggerty has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic
Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week for his
performance during the week ending March 27.
Haggerty made 12 saves as the Pioneers defeated Catawba 11-6 on the
road on Saturday night, including six stops in the first half as he
helped Tusculum build a 6-1 lead at halftime. Haggerty faced 20
shots in the second half and came up with six saves to help the
Pioneers maintain their five-goal lead and earn their second
conference road win of the season.
The junior from Suffern, New York has made 10 or more saves in
seven of the Pioneers' eight games this season, and ranks third in
the conference with a 10.27 goals against average. It is the fourth
time in his career that Haggerty has captured SAC Defensive Player
of the Week honors and the second this season, having previously
been honored for the week ending March 6.
The Pioneers (3-5, 2-1 SAC) are home Wednesday night against
Lincoln Memorial for a SAC match that begins at 7 p.m. at Pioneer
Field.
