Haggerty named SAC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College goaltender Kevin Haggerty has been named the AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.

Haggerty, a sophomore from Suffern, New York, recorded 25 saves of the 75 shots he faced in Tusculum's two-game Florida road swing to open the 2015 season.

In Tusculum's 13-11 road loss at Florida Tech, Haggerty accounted for 14 saves against the Panthers. TC fell behind 9-0, before making a valiant comeback with a 7-0 run and trailed by one goal on several occasions down the stretch. After being down 9-0, Haggerty limited FIT to four goals in the second half.

Against No. 4 Tampa, Haggerty posted 11 saves against the defending NCAA II national semifinalist and posted a shutout of the Spartans in the fourth quarter.

On the weekend, Haggerty posted a 13.50 GAA during TC's Florida trip. The award marks her first Defensive Player of the Week selection this season.

Tusculum returns to action Feb. 21 when the Pioneers travel to Hickory, North Carolina to take on defending SAC co-champion Lenoir-Rhyne at 3 p.m.
