ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum College freshman attack Ben Boyd was named the South Atlantic Conference Offensive Player of the Week in men's lacrosse for the week ending Feb. 23, the SAC office announced Monday.

Boyd had eight goals and three assists for 11 points in two games as the Pioneers beat Lees-McRae 23-6 and Young Harris 9-8 to stay unbeaten at 3-0 in the program's inaugural season.

Boyd scored five goals on five shots on goal and had two assists to help the Pioneers over Lees-McRae in the first home game in program history on Wednesday, then had three goals and an assist to go along with three ground balls in a one-goal victory at Young Harris on Saturday.

Through three games, the Bel Air, Md. native leads the SAC with 10 goals and 14 points, and also leads the conference in total shots (23) and shots on goal (18). As a team, Tusculum is averaging a conference-best 14.67 goals per game.

The Pioneers put their 3-0 record on the line on Saturday afternoon when they host Lenoir-Rhyne in their first-ever conference match. Game time from Pioneer Field is scheduled for 2 p.m.
