GREENWOOD, S.C. --- After the opening 18 holes, the Tusculum University men's golf team shot a six-under par 282 and was in fourth place at the 2024 Bearcat Classic. The two-day, 54-hole tournament is being hosted by Lander University and held at the par-72, 6,800-yard Greenwood Country Club.

Monday's second round was suspended due to darkness with most competitors having one to two holes remaining to complete the 36-hole circuit. The second round will be completed on Tuesday followed by the third and final 18 holes.

Tusculum's Blake Williams was tied for fourth place after his opening round 67 (-5) and was two shots off the lead shared by Flagler's Tomas Cavanaugh and Wingate's Jordan Hyland, who each carded a seven-under 65.

Williams posted a steady round which included one eagle, six birdies, eight pars and three bogeys as his 67 ties his career-best he shot at last fall's Bob Dibble Intercollegiate.

Dominic Barron Holden shot a three-under 69 and was tied for 10^th place. His only blemish was a double-bogey on No. 15. He finished with one eagle, three birdies and 13 pars. Senior Isak Holter and freshman Marinus Jeebe each shot 73 and are tied for 45^th place. Freshman Morgan Cain carded a 77 and is 85^th.

Flagler posted a team score of 272 and had a six-shot lead on second place Lander (278). Barton is third with 279, followed by Tusculum (282), Grand Valley State (283), Wingate (286), Limestone (287), Belmont Abbey (289), Newberry (290), Anderson (291), King (292), Lenoir-Rhyne (293), Indianapolis (293), Findlay (293), West Georgia (295), Georgia College (298), Emmanuel (299), Erskine (301) and North Greenville (312).

Resumption of play will be at 8 a.m. as second round action is completed. The final round will immediately follow.
