SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum University freshman Liam Hermansson carded a three-under par 68 and is in second place after the opening round of the 2021 Richard Rendleman Invitational. The two-day, 36-hole tournament is being held at the Country Club of Salisbury and hosted by Catawba College.

The Pioneers posted a solid team score of 285 (+1) and are tied for fourth place, four shots out of the lead held by sixth-ranked Lincoln Memorial and Lander who each posted 281 (-3).

Hermansson recorded five birdies in his round, which includes 12 pars. His own blemish on his scorecard was a double-bogey 6 on the par-four 16^th hole.  He is one shot out of the lead which LMU's Harry Watkins holds at four-under par 67. Hermansson is in a three-way tie for second with Miller Harbin of North Greenville and Livingstone's Ronald Otile.

TU sophomore Liam van Deventer and freshman Fynn Hessenkaemper each fired 72 and are tied for 18^th place, while sophomore Dominic Barron Holden tallied a 73 and is 23^rd. Senior Nicholas Marchese shot 76 and is in 31^st place.

Senior Kyle Engelbert, who is playing as an individual player, shot an even-par 71 and is tied for 11^th.

Lincoln Memorial B is third with 282, followed by Tusculum and Livingstone at 285. North Greenville is fifth with 291, followed by Fayetteville State (302) and Catawba (302).

The final round will be contested on the par-71, 6,759-yard layout.
