ROCK HILL, S.C. --- Tusculum University's Dominic Barron Holden received honorable mention recognition with the release of the 2021 All-South Atlantic Conference Men's Golf Team.
Holden, a freshman from Kendal, England, leads the Pioneers with his 73.21 stroke average in his five events this spring. His scoring average is on pace to be the lowest ever by a Tusculum freshman and the eighth-lowest overall. The TU freshman record is currently held by former All-SAC golfer and Academic American® Nick Forsberg (74.73 in 2012-13).
Holden has recorded three top-20 performances including two times in the top-10 and one top-five showing. He carded a third-place finish with 72-73=145 at the Tusculum Invitational last month. He also finished ninth at the Buccaneer Spring Classic with 79-76-72=227 and followed with a 54-hole low 215 at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate where he tied for 11th place at the NCAA Division I tournament. Included in the 215 total was an opening round 66 (-6), which is tied for the third-lowest round in school history.
Holden and the Pioneers captured first place honors at the Tusculum Invitational and finished runner-up at the Buccaneer Spring Classic.
The Pioneers return to action this Monday and Tuesday as they make the short trip to Tazewell for the 2021 South Atlantic Conference Championship at Woodlake Golf Club.
