GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team will host the 27th annual Tusculum Invitational this Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 22-23) at Graysburg Hills Golf Club.
The two-day, 36-hole event will be played for the first time at Graysburg Hills and held concurrently with the Agnes McAmis Memorial Women's Invitational. The Tusculum Men's Invitational will be played on the Chimney Top and Fodder Stack courses at Graysburg Hills, providing a beautiful and challenging par-72, 6,860-yard layout.
The opening round will begin on Monday with tee times starting at 9 a.m. Play will conclude with Tuesday's final round starting at 9 a.m.
The Pioneers have won the TU Invitational on 10 occasions including: 1995, 1997, 1998, 2006, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019. Last year's tournament was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.
Eleven (11) colleges and universities will be competing with teams representing five states including Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. Team's competing include: Tusculum, Bluefield State, Concord, Emory & Henry, Lenoir-Rhyne, Mars Hill, Milligan, Roane State, Spartanburg Methodist, UVA Wise and Walters State.
Walters State has won the TU Invitational on two occasions including most recently in 2018. Lenoir-Rhyne is also a past champion capturing the title in 2010.
The Pioneers rallied from a three-shot deficit to win the 2019 edition of the Tusculum Invitational. A Tusculum golfer has claimed medalist honors at this event on six occasions with the last coming in 2008. Past TU individual champions include: Todd Watson (1994), Tim Johnson (1997), Kevin Broyles (1998), Nick Kinzer (2006), Darren Christie (2007) and Chris Wynne (2008).
Spectators are welcome to attend the Tusculum Invitational, but attendees are asked to practice social distancing, wear masks and face coverings and to remain on the cart paths at all times.
