MONROE, N.C. --- The Tusculum men's golf B team finished 12th at the 2021 Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate Tuesday at Stonebridge Golf Club. The Pioneers finished with a three-round total of 953 in the 15-team field.
Erskine led wire-to-wire as the Flying Fleet posted a team score of 887, two shots ahead of second place Lenoir-Rhyne and host Wingate who each finished with 889. Queens University of Charlotte was fourth with 890, followed by Flagler (891), Northeastern State (895), Coker (896), Ohio Dominican (904), Belmont Abbey B (920), Queens B (923), Wingate B (933), Tusculum B (953), Erskine B (965), Belmont Abbey C (970) and UVA Wise (1027).
Tusculum's Liam Sweeney was the top Pioneer as he tied for 36th place with 77-75-78=230. John Bennett was 46th with 76-75-83=234, Mark Healy placed 60th with 80-82-81=243, Bennett Noe was 68th with 83-80-87=250 and Derek Mubarek 93-86-83=262.
Lenoir-Rhyne's Liam Waldron defeated Charles Joubert of Wingate in a playoff to claim medalist honors. Waldron and Joubert each carded a one-under par 215.
The Pioneers will host the 27th annual Tusculum Invitational next week (Mar. 22-23) at Graysburg Hills Golf Club.
