SALISBURY, N.C. --- The Tusculum University men's golf team shot an opening day 300 and is in fourth place of the Richard Rendleman Invitational, which is being held at the Country Club of Salisbury and hosted by Catawba College.
The Pioneers are five shots behind co-leaders Catawba and Fayetteville State who each carded a team total 295. Lenoir-Rhyne is third with 299, followed by Tusculum (300), Livingstone (304), Belmont Abbey (307), UVa-Wise (311), Belmont Abbey B (341) and Winston-Salem State (459).
Tusculum's Nicolas Marchese shot 74 and is tied for seventh place and is six shots out of lead held by co-leaders Tanner Bibey of Catawba and Fayetteville State's Brandon Jones as each shot 68.
TU's Kyle Engelbert and Liam Sweeney are tied for 10th place as each shot 75. Mark Healy posted a 76 and is in 16th place while Bennett Noe shot 80 and is tied for 31st.
The final round will be contested on Tuesday.
