BRISTOL, Tenn. --- For a second straight week, the Tusculum University men's golf team has posted a runner-up finish as the Pioneers finished second at this week's King University Invitational.

Tusculum shot a two-day score of 566 to finish 11 shots behind tournament host King who tallied 555 including a final round 272 on Tuesday on the par-70 Country Club of Bristol layout.

TU's final round 278 is tied for the third lowest 18-hole team score in program history while the 36-hole total of 566 is tied for sixth in the TU record book.

For a second consecutive week, TU's Jeffery Perez was the low-Pioneer with his tournament total 71-68=139 to finish in sole possession of third place. Perez's final round included a five-under par 30 on his opening nine holes as he posts his second straight top-three finish in as many weeks.  Perez captured medalist honors at the Mars Hill Fall Invitational last week at the Johnson City Country Club.

TU newcomer Mark Healy also earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team with back-to-back rounds of 70-70=140 (E) to tie for fourth place.  Bennett Noe shot a final round 68 (-2) to finish with 141 and tie for sixth place. Kyle Engelbert shot 74-72=146 to tie for 16th place while Noah Jones recorded 74-75=149 to tie for 21st.

Erskine College was third with 578, followed by North Greenville University (580), Catawba College (588), Erskine B (605), Virginia-Wise (609), King B (613) and Emmanuel (615).

The Pioneers are back in action Oct. 7-8 as they compete at the State Farm Intercollegiate, which is being hosted by Lincoln Memorial University and held at Woodlake Golf Club in Tazewell, Tennessee.  Woodlake will serve as the host venue for the South Atlantic Conference this coming April.
