Ross Cash named Tusculum golf coach

GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- Ross Cash has been named the new head men's and women's golf coach at Tusculum University announced Doug Jones, vice president of student success and athletics.

Cash replaces Nick Forsberg, who served as interim golf coach for the final two months of the 2018 spring season.

He comes to Tusculum after serving last season as the head men's golf coach at NCAA Division I Florida Atlantic University.  While at the Boca Raton, Florida school, he helped the Owls to a 97 position improvement in the program's Golfstat team rankings.

Florida Atlantic posted a win over Army and saw Sully Zagerman named Conference USA Golfer of the Week honors while also capturing medalist honors at the Stetson Legacy Intercollegiate Tournament.

"We are delighted to have Ross join the Pioneer Family," said Jones.  "Ross brings a wealth of experience as both a coach and a teacher and he will have an immediate impact on our golf programs. More importantly, Ross's character and value system will have a long-lasting impact on the young women and men in our golf programs.  We welcome Coach Cash and his family to our community."

Prior to FAU, Cash spent four seasons (2013-2017) as the head boys' golf coach at The King's Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he compiled an impressive 138-24-1 record. Cash was responsible for all facets of the varsity, junior varsity, middle school and elementary school golf programs.

Cash was named the 2015 and 2016 Palm Beach Post Coach of the Year as well as the 2015 Sun Sentinel Coach of the Year. In 2016 he was tabbed the NFHS Florida State Coach of the year.

King's Academy won the 2016 Antigua National High School Invitational in Scottsdale, Arizona by 11 strokes defeating teams representing 28 states and two countries.  The program advanced from playing nine-hole events to competing in prestigious tournaments throughout Florida.

Prior to King's Academy, Cash guided the Lake Worth Christian boys' team from 2011-2013. He also maintained a book of over 300 students, as the Winston Trails Golf Club Teaching Professional from 2014-2017, and served as the instructor for two AJGA Champions, 12 ranked junior golfers and the No. 7 ranked junior golfer in the world.

"So many things needed to line up for this to take place and this an exciting time for my family and we can't wait become part of the Tusculum community," said Cash.  "Everyone associated with Tusculum has been so positive and professional. Everything is done in a first class manner; from the facilities all the way to the lawn care around the campus. I am grateful to the administration and especially Doug Jones. Doug is a winner and I will work diligently to win in all facets of the program and try to do it in a manner that reflects the values of Tusculum University."

From 2004-2016, he served as the Villa Delray Golf Club Teaching Professional, and from 1996-98, he served as the First Assistant Golf Pro at Palm Beach Polo Golf and Country Club.

Cash is a 1994 graduate of the University of Virginia where he earned his degree in sports management with an emphasis in bio-mechanics.

He is married to the former Heather Lynn Stringer of New Bedford, Massachusetts and they are the proud parents of son Colby along with their mini-husky, Arctic.
