SALISBURY, N.C. --- Tusculum's Anthony Bolden fired a two-under par 69 and is tied for fourth place after day one action of the 2018 Richard Rendleman Invitational.  The Pioneers posted a team score of 299 and is in fifth place in the 17-team tournament, which is being held at the par-71, 6,690-yard Country Club of Salisbury.

Bolden finished his round strong as he birdied his final three holes to equal his career-best 18 holes as Tusculum. He posted a two-under par 69 in the opening round of the Bob Dibble Classic last fall and his 69 in the final round of the 2017 Tusculum Invitational.

Tusculum is 13 shots behind leader Lenoir-Rhyne as the Bears posted 286, one shot ahead of tournament host Catawba (287).  Georgia College is third with 290, followed by Wingate (292) and the Pioneers to comprise the top-five.

Averett University is sixth with 303, followed by Queens University of Charlotte's B-Team (314), Catawba B (315), Belmont Abbey B (316), Brevard (318), Livingstone (319), Pfeiffer B (324), Wingate B (324), Pfeiffer A (328), William Peace (336), Chowan (338) and Belmont Abbey C (344).

Lenoir-Rhyne's Jordan Vogler shot the round of the day with his five-under par 66 and leads by two strokes over teammate Brad Robinson (68, -3) and Thomas Hodges (68, -3) of Georgia College.  Bolden is tied with L-R's Dawson Walker, who is playing as an individual competitor.

Tusculum's Brandon Alexander carded a 75 and is tied for 17th place.  Liam Sweeney is tied for 26th place following his opening 77.  David Whinery posted a 78 and is tied for 31st pace.  Bennett Noe shot 87 and is tied for 77th along with TC's Matthew Kowalski, who is playing as an individual competitor.

Tusculum's 299 team score matches the lowest opening round score for the Pioneers in their 18 trips to the Rendleman Invitational.  This year's 299 matches the opening score posted by TC at the 2006 event.

The final round will be played on Tuesday with a 9:15 a.m. shotgun start.
