TAZEWELL, Tenn. --- Tusculum College senior Taylor Smith posted a three-round score of 214 to finish tied for sixth place at the 2016 State Farm Intercollegiate.  The Pioneers shot a final day score of 305 for a tournament tally of 903 to finish in the 12^th place in the 15-team field.

The two-day, 54-hole tournament was held at Woodlake Golf Club and hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.  The host Railsplitters shot 855 and won the event by 16 shots over runner-up Carson-Newman University (871).  Lenoir-Rhyne University was third with 874, while Brevard College (878) and Anderson University (887) rounded out the top-five.

LMU Blue and Barton College tied for sixth place with 888, followed by Walters State College (892), Coker College (895), Southern Wesleyan University (896), Catawba College (897), Tusculum (903), Mars Hill University (918), Brevard B (920) and LMU Gray (953).

Weston Bell of Anderson won medalist honors finishing with 210, including a final round 69 (-3) on Tuesday.  Bell won by two shots over runner-ups George Duncan (LMU) and Brad Robinson (Lenoir-Rhyne).

Smith's finished with a one-over par round of 73 to snap his streak of consecutive rounds under par at six in a row.  Smith's sixth place finish marked his third straight top-10 performance.

TC senior Cameron Dugger tied for 43^rd place with 77-73-79=229, while David Whinery tied for 52^nd with 75-77-79=231.  Anthony Bolden shot 88-76-74=238 to tie for 68^th place, while senior Chris Hutson rounded out the team scoring with 79-79-84=242 to tie for 71^st.  Senior Preston Tucker tied for 62^nd place with 76-81-78=235, playing as an individual competitor.

Tusculum returns to action next week (Oct. 17-18) as they travel to Morristown, Tennessee for the Walters State Classic.
